Indoors
Our Preschool room was completed in Spring 2007 and was constructed with formaldehyde free insulation, low VOC paint, natural cork flooring, allergen free hydronic heating, and locally harvested sustainable woods in the cabinets and trim. The kitchen has a recycled concrete countertop and the full bathroom uses a low-flush toilet. Upon completion of construction, the artist Nancy Strand (Mike's mom), painted a 25 foot long mural based on the book Where the Wild Things Are. The steel overhead beams are capable of holding a multitude of swings, rings, fairy houses, and ropes which make our obstacle courses something to see!
Outdoors
Papoose recently completed a 550 square foot deck as permanent outside play space. The deck was constructed with the generous assistance of our "Papoose Parents" who came together to help install the beams and the cedar decking. The cedar deck and railing are finished in low VOC natural stains and the deck has a hidden fastener system so that there are no exposed screws. The deck has a 27 square foot sand box, water table (weather permitting), loft area with attached tunnel slide, and two child sized picnic tables for outdoor dining and projects.
Cleaning Products
Both our Infant Room and Preschool use all biodegradable, non-toxic, hypoallergenic cleaners and actively recycle and compost. Every effort has been made to ensure a safe, healthy environment for your child and our planet.
